- A while ago I started calling my dog Mr. Toots when he was going through an attack of the toots. He's not particularly habitually flatulent, but his heart medication seems to have affected his digestion a bit, making him tootier and his poos softer. So anyway, Mr. Toots was shortened to Toots, which evolved into Tootsy, Tootsy Cutesy, Toots Bear, and then somehow Tootsburg. I spent quite a bit of time wondering if it was -burg or -berg—Tootsville or Toots Peak—and I finally decided that it was Tootsburg à la Pittsburgh. So Tootsville it is. Or Toots Town. The nickname Tootsburg obviously became Tootsburger, and then most recently Tootsburglar, which I admit is silly. I expect it to end here but you never know with dogs.
