- We got an email today saying the company is giving us Friday, Juneteenth, as a paid holiday, and I can't imagine anything better to have a holiday for. And now I'm sitting here realizing that never once in my life has it ever crossed my mind that there should be an official national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. What better thing to have a holiday for, right? And why don't we?
