Meteorological fall
Tuesday, Sept. 01, 2015 - 20:33

September 1 is the start of meteorological fall! I was correct! Summer is OVER!

I don't know about you but I'm feeling antsy and/or dumb. And the forecast is for rain. And so I am pleased to announce the first annual Meteorological Fall Writer's Retreat, happening this weekend, right here! (Southern hemisphere residents are allowed to participate and may substitute 'spring' for 'fall'.)

The Meteorological Fall Writer's Retreat will consist of... three writing prompts. Or more, or less, whatever. That's not really important. What's important is that we will all stay in little cabins. Everyone will get their own little cabin. Each little cabin will be equipped with: charming little porch with rustic rocking chair, small wood stove, utilitarian but comfortable desk and chair next to the front window, old but finely tuned and oiled typewriter, terribly comfortable king-sized bed which magically fits into the tiny cabin, new and totally not gross bathroom with either a shower or a clawfoot tub depending on individual preference. There will be stone paths connecting the little cabins, a central fire pit, and the mess hall, where delicious gourmet meals will be prepared for us by Mrs. Alexander and her two French sous-chefs, Antoine and Armand.

Tentative daily schedule:

8 a.m. Breakfast
9 a.m. Horseback trail ride
11 a.m. Nap
12 p.m. Lunch

Be sure to pack some warm socks. It is meteorological fall, after all, and the evenings and mornings can be chilly.
