- Glad that the Paralympics are on now. Got smoky again today, after a brief respite of... I don't know, a week? Yeah, about a week. I need to get a new blower for my fireplace before the winter comes. It seemed like there was so much time but now... Driving back into town on Sunday night there was a bad wreck on the highway. Traffic backed up a mile or two. There was a passing lane in the backup, and some people (out of staters - can you imagine?!?) decided they would speed past everyone. It happened a couple times, then another car (an in-stater, poor bastard) tried it and a big truck swerved out in front to stop him, and the dude in the truck got out, all tactical-geared and red-faced, and went up to the driver's window gesturing angrily. I couldn't hear what he said but I imagine there were plenty of f-words involved. The car sheepishly tried to merge back in with everyone, and then after that a few people (including the angry truck) straddled the lanes so more bastards wouldn't try to pass everyone. Unfortunately (I guess) there weren't any more emergency vehicles coming by so maybe leaving a lane open didn't matter. When we finally got to the site of the wreck, one ambulance headed back without its lights on. Two tow trucks were still there, one carrying a mostly intact car, and one car door had been flung near the woods. I made ketchup tonight. Should probably get it into some kind of container and then clean up so I can go to bed - bedtime, the best part of the day.
