writing and running and Beyonce

Once again no one met the deadline for the exciting fake memoir contest. I know that at least one person intended to enter but was unable because she has been very busy and also because her neighbors' internet signals aren't working for her so she can't internet at night at home and also because her sisters were visiting over the weekend. In fact, this person who intended but neglected to enter wrote not one but two entries - or, more exactly, she started one but didn't finished it and then all of a sudden at work yesterday - one day after the entry deadline - she started a completely different entry. Perhaps this new one doesn't really count because 1. it was started after the deadline had passed; 2. it's not quite the memoir style the contest-holder was envisioning; and 3. it, like its predecessor, is not finished. A couple issues arise from this: 1. the flakiness of both the contest-holder and the author, who (truth be told) are the same person, which leads to: 1a. the disconnect this person exhibits when writing about herself; and 1b. whether this disconnect is representative of any particular troubling mental instability, which it probably is (or is not, depending on whose side you take); 2. um, shoot, I totally forgot the other issue. It was really good. Crap.

Anyway, in more exciting news, total PR in last weekend's 10K, yo. Well, not quite 'total' PR, just 28 seconds faster than my fastest from last year, but still, PR. If I ever want to be a top contender I'll have to shave off like 10 minutes for the 10K, 5 for the 5K, and that's really probably not going to happen, alas. I will have to keep running into my 70s when all these stinking fast ladies stop entering races. The 30-39 age group sucks. Hey, 20-year-olds, start entering races, your age group is slow and you'll probably win. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, because your competition isn't.

In related news, I was reading about achilles tendonitis and it was described as an injury that affects "middle-aged recreational athletes." I take two issues with this but am so offended I can't elaborate on the issues.

In more related news, my achilles tendonitis feels much better after having iced and ibuprofened the crap out of my ankles last week. (That's an extreme exaggeration but had to be written.)

Beyonce and Jay-Z have reportedly obtained a marriage license! Hurrah!
