Oh, the internet

Our flirtations with the internet soon stop. Bjornporn is no more. (That site is now a porn site. It didn't use to be. I swear. When I read it it was a kid's journal, and there weren't any leather-clad women writhing about. I swear.) Dirtygirl is no more, at least in that incarnation. People begin with these great pages, motivation, good writing, but then soon realize that sitting in front of a computer screen really isn't life and they stop. It's nice, though, to see people growing up like that.

I've been reading Justin's page for like three years now. He started it in like 1995 or sometime around then. He was an internet pioneer. They made a movie about him. He wrote everything that happened in his real life, including details about the sex he had and the drugs he did and the people he knew. He did not mince words. Understandably he pissed a lot of people off. Like he wrote about when he worked at some company and they had a party and all the adults got drunk and had sex. He included the company's name and the people's names. They were mad. Etcetera, etcetera.

But it's been five years, and he's grown up. He's not in college anymore. Some of his fans were mad that he wasn't giving them their daily dose of trash anymore, but I think it's been neat watching him develop into the person he is. He's grown up over the years, settled down, got domesticated--as have I and a lot of people my age.

Everyone grows up. It's sad, but it's also kind of neat. What will happen? Who knows...
